Renowned relationship coach, pastor and Founder of Love, Dating and Marriage, Dr. Kingsley Okonkwo, has unveiled a new book, ‘Heal before you deal’.
The unveiling was the climax of the 2023 edition of the Manual Conference hosted recently in Lagos by Love, Dating and Marriage, a relationship organisation, at the David Christian Centre in Lekki.
The conference which had in attendance seasoned relationship experts such as Keishorne Scott, an American relationship and heartbreak coach; Lara Kudayisi, an author and relationship coach; and many more, had in attendance celebrities and personalities from all walks of life.
Speaking on the rationale behind the conference and book launch, Okonkwo said: “Emotional healing, which is the focus of this yearly conference, is a requirement for healthy, loving, and lasting relationships and marriages.
“As a marriage coach and counsellor, I have found out that for a lot of marriages that have crisis, it is usually not a relationship problem. It is an individual problem. People bring in their past hurts and traumas into their relationships and marriages.
“As we normally say, it is the quality of eggs that determines the quality of the omelette. If more people can be healed before they enter relationships, they will have better relationships.
“I therefore see the book, ‘Heal before you deal’ helping people to heal, helping people to identify which areas they need healing and how to go about it. The book will be available on all international platforms for books and also our website.”
Keishorne Scott, in his presentation, reiterated the importance of seeking healing, describing it as a necessary tool for turning pain into purpose lest one carries disappointment, depression and unforgiveness into every relationship.
In the same vein Lara Kudayisi, who also shared her inspiring story of rising above fourteen heartbreaks and fifteen abortions at the conference, said: “Healing is very important because without it, you will be repeating your experiences.
“You will repeat your parents’ marriage except there is an intervention.”
