Concrete mixer kills father of 2 in Delta

UGHELLI— TRAGEDY struck in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, as a 25-year-old operator and a father of two, working with a construction company (names withheld) in the area, was squeezed to death by a concrete mixing machine.

The operator, identified as Mr. Saidu Suleiman, was seized by the ma-chine while trying to ascertain the level of water in the mixer, as his face was caught by the machine and life squee-zed out of him before rescue came his way.

The deceased, who Vanguard gathered was from Okpella in Edo State, died at about 2:30pm.

According to a reliable source, the late Suleiman was not noticed until the concrete mixer stopped working.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said the late Suleiman had on several occasions complained to the management of the company that the machine was malfunctioning.

The source lamented that the widow and children of the deceased would be thrown into hardship by the sudden demise of their bread winner.

At press time, efforts were still being made by our correspondent to reach management of the company  for comments.

While confirming the incident, a senior Police officer in the area said investigation into the incident had begun. The police officer, who spoke on condition of anony-mity, assured that the cause of the death of Mr. Suleiman would be ascertained.

According to the police officer, the remains of late Suleiman had been taken to his home town, Okpella for burial.
