ACN youth leader, 2 others die in Lagos flood

LAGOS— Three persons, among them an Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, youth leader, were swept away by flood, during Tuesday’s downpour in Agbado-Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State. Their bodies were yet to be discovered.

Property worth millions of naira were also destroyed by the torrential rain. Areas mostly effected were Suberu Oje, Oke-Abiye and Sanni Agbesinga, while many families were displaced.

Report said the ACN youth leader in the area, who was identified simply as Nash, died after the motorcycle he was riding on, was swept away by flood, while the identity of another victim was given as Nurudeen Opeyemi.

Youths in the area, reportedly took to the street, protesting the death of their leader, blaming the absence of drainage for the flood. The youths, it was gathered, threatened to disrupt Saturday’s local government elections, if immediate action was not taken to address the issue of flood in the area.

Policemen from Oke-Odo, who were drafted to the scene, reportedly restored normalcy.
