AS part of their commitment to the welfare of mankind and the society at large, the rotary Club of Warri have donated notebooks and bags to Primary school pupils in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State to lighten their parents educational burden.

President of the Club, Rotarian Emmanuel Ogoru assisted by the immediate past president, Rotarian Andree O. Edun and other members of the club visited Agbaje Primary School, Ugbuwangue and Isibovbe Primary Schools I & II, Ekurede-Urhobo on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 as well as Ogiame Primary School A and B in Ekurede-Itsekiri on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 where they donated over 800 school bags and 4,800 notebooks to the pupils.

Speaking at the ceremonies preceding the donations in the respective schools, the Club Rotarian Emmanuel Ogoru affirmed that Rotary believes in reaching out to society, adding that it was in that spirit that the club was targeting school pupils.

He emphasized the importance of making learning simple and affordable for children in the primary schools which is the foundation of good education, adding that this informed the Rotary Club of Warri’s donation of learning materials.

The immediate past Club President, Rotarian Andree O. Edun, told the children to take their studies serious, noting that some of them would by so doing grow to become part of the Rotary family.

The head of the schools who responded on behalf of the pupils and teachers of the schools thanked Rotary Club of Warri for the initiative, saying that over the years the Club has distinguished itself for good works.

At Ogiame Primary school the Headmistress, Mrs. Omasan M.O recounted how the Rotary club of Warri donated blackboards to the school in the past and said Rotary has been a very good partner of the school management from time.
