Lagos – A septuagenarian, Raheem Tanimola, his wife, Taiwo, 59, and their son, Lateef, 29,were on Tuesday arraigned before a Mushin Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing N150,000.

The trio were also charged with assault before Magistrate D.T. Olatokun.

The magistrate, however, granted each of them N50,000 bail, with one surety each after they pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused committed the offences on the Sept. 20, at No. 4, Lawani Str., Jibowu, in Lagos.

Ayorinde said that the trio assaulted one Wasilat Lawal by hitting her on the nose which led to her bleeding.

He added that the trio also beat one Alhaja Munirat Lawal with sticks which caused her bodily harm.

Ayorinde further stated that the accused allegedly stole  N150,000 belonging to Lawal.

He said their offences were punishable under Sections 355 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 32, Vol. 2, Law of Lagos State and of Nigeria, 2003.

The case was adjourned till Nov. 9 for further hearing. (NAN)
