GODFREY Gaya is Chairman of the committee on sports in the House of Representatives. He says Eagles have shamed themselves and disappointed the country and need to be overhauled to move forward.
He recommends changes in players, in their attitude and also wants the federation to be harder, closer and more professional in their relationship with their coaches but warned that changing the technical crew in every competition may not help our football.
He made it clear that he was not defending Siasia but stating the obvious.
“It’s sad to think that Nigeria’s flag will not be hoisted when the Nations Cup holds next year. It’s even worse for me to know that I was inaugurated on Friday and the Eagles messed up on Saturday to put the nation in this mourning mood, Gaya a passionate sports and football lover who cheered Nigerian athletes and boxers at the All Africa Games in Maputo said.
But we can’t continue to be changing coaches as if we are changing jersies. It does not in any way help. Where is Chukwu, Amodu, Lagerback, Berti Vogts? We sacked them. And it has not helped us. Sacking Siasia is not the answer. This is my personal opinion but the House Committee would meet to take a position, Gaya in London for the friendly against Ghana said.
