BENIN-A group in the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Restoration Project 2012, has backed the governorship aspiration of the former Governor of Edo State, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, saying his achievements within the short period he spent in government will guarantee victory for PDP.

Prof Osunbor, Maj.-Gen. Charles Airhiavbere, former Commander Corps of Army Finance and Accounts in the Nigerian Army, and Mr. Ken Imasuagbon, are the three persons, who had indicated interest in the governorship election under PDP in 2012.

Coordinator of the Restoration Project, Mr. Nosa Omorodion, argued that the Edo Central senatorial district where Prof. Osunbor hails from, was the only area that PDP won some seats in the last election.

He added that since the party had successfully conducted its congresses, “it will now be wise to pick somebody who can conveniently defeat Oshiomhole.”

“After wide and extensive consultation and research by our over 2,000 selfless members spread across the 192 wards of the state, we came to a conclusion on the person that best represents the hope of the party in the onerous quest to regain control of the state in 2012.”
