Yenagoa- Former chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr. Boloubo Orufa, Tuesday, declared his intention to contest the 2012 governorship elec-tion in the state on the platform of Peoples De-mocratic Party, PDP. He promised to intensify the anti-corruption crusade in the state and elimi-nate arbitrary use of state power.

He joined the growing list of aspirants who had vowed to dislodge the incumbent Governor Timipre Sylva from the state Government House.

Orufa, who unveiled his six-point agenda for the state in Yenagoa, said if elected to succeed the incumbent, his administration will usher in a people-oriented government which will restore and transform the political, social and economic landscape of the state for good.

The former council boss, whose campaign is tagged Redemption Movement 2012, said: “Our aim is to bring about transformation through collective participation and contribution of Bayelsans who strive for excellence.

“The transformation will be achieved through our administration’s transparency, accounta-bility, budget imple-mentation, imple-mentation of Yenagoa City master plan, rural integration and develo-pment, construction of the three senatorial roads, improved infra-structure in education, health, public housing and stimulation of the economy and job creation through industrialisation.”

Lamenting what he described as the inherent rot in governance of the state, he promised to repositioned govern-ment’s focus to people-oriented development, mobilisation for good governance, social justice, peace, security, and team work geared towards sustainable political, social, economic and cultural growth.
