The menace of assigning genders to specific professions is an unending conversation, as most people continue to erroneously create stereotyped notions about certain disciplines. For Fadekemi, Engineering is not a gender based career, as she keeps thriving in the acclaimed male dominated industry with giant strides.
Fadekemi’s area of specialization as a construction engineer includes, planning, designing stages of construction projects and supervision.
An outstanding alumnae of the prestigious University of Lagos, Fadekemi is one of the shining lights of Construction engineering in Nigeria, with so much to offer the nation and humanity by extension. When asked about her choice of being a construction engineer as it is perceived to be a male dominated field, she responded by saying “When people say engineering particularly building and constructions is for men, I find it funny because that is so untrue. We have females who are doing amazingly well in this path of construction engineering. I do not subscribe to the unfounded claims that engineering isn’t for women. It is about interests and purposeful pursuits of it.”
