When the Super Eagles confront Ghana today in an international friendly match billed for London at the Vicarage Stadium Watford, uppermost on their minds will be how to appease their teeming but disappointed fans back home.

Top members of the team have vowed to put behind them their disappointing campaign in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series and vent their spleen on Ghana who are Nigeria’s eternal rivals in the West Coast.

But coach Samson Siasia and his boys know that Ghana will not be an easy pie. In sharp contrast to the Eagles, Black Stars’ fortunes in African and global soccer has been in ascendancy since their maiden appearance at the World Cup in 2006. Only last Saturday, as the Eagles were struggling against a modest Guinean side in Abuja, the star-studded Black Stars were runaway winners in Khartoum with a 2-0 victory over hosts Sudan.

One of the major culprits in Nigeria’s failure against Guinea last weekend in Abuja, Osaze Odemwinge has promised that the Eagles will climb on the back of their more prosperous opponents to compensate their fans.

All the 21 players from the ill-fated squad that took on Guinea Saturday are in London for the game.

US-based midfielder Emmanuel Ekpo and Ugo Ukah from Polish club Widzew Lodz are the only new additions.

The Nigerian team will take leverage on the fact that they will be the underdogs in today’s game and they won’t be under any pressure to beat the Ghanians.

The match which was first called off in August due to riots in London is fixed to kick off 8 pm
