As the tussle for Anabmra North Senatorial seat continues, one of the major contenders and wife of the late Senate President, Lady Margery Chuba Okadigbo, has dismissed the claim by Senator Igbeke to the position, insisting that she was the authentic candidate of the party for the position.
In a statement made available to Vanguard, Mrs. Okadigbo noted that the issue of Anambra North Senatorial seat, when discussed in the media revolved around Alphonsus Igbeke and John Emeka, who she described as product of a purported PDP primary election organized by Benjy Udeozor, who she said claimed to be a PDP Anambra State Chairman.
According to Okadigbo, the State Executive of the party lacks the powers to conduct party primaries. She said only the national executive of the party had the power to do so.
It will be recalled that Lady Margery Okadigbo emerged the candidate of the PDP for Anambra North, after polling a total of 168 votes at a primary conducted and headed by Senator John Waku of National Assembly Electoral Primary Panel.
She claimed that the judgment Igbeke was relying on from Justice Kafarati, which he used to obtain INEC certificate of return between him and John Emeka was founded on forgery and that the forgery case filed by Emeka against it was pending in High Court, Abuja.
‘’There is a pending appeal at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, involving all four parties, PDP, INEC, Okadigbo, Igbeke and Emeka.
