Eagles to prey on Guinea

By Tony Ubani
SUPER Eagles coach, Samson Siasia was in a ralaxed mood yesterday after his wards reported to camp with Mikel Obi squeezing out a $5000 fine for reporting late to camp.

There were no injury worries. Osaze Odemwingie was as sharp as ever in training and there were no signs of acrimony from his face-off with the boss that saw him miss some national games. Joel Obi was home with his mates and forgot his controversial red card in his club.

The national team was a family and Siasia in his usual characteristics manner joked that the Syli nationale of Guinea would be used as an experiment in their all important match on Saturday for the ticket in their group for the nation’s cup. “We’re ready. I’m delighted with the rapid response of the players.

That shows how important they rate the assignment before them. We are not under-rating or underestimating the Guineans. But they will be in trouble on Saturday”, Siasia said.

His disciplinary measures in the team has drawn some flaks from erstwhile coach Shaibu Amodu but Siasia who himself looks more like a player than coach says that discipline remains the number one rule in his camp. “Without disciplinary measures, there will be no boss in charge. They are all professionals and know that discipline is the key to success”, he said.

His players, Osaze Odemwingie, Chinedu Ogbuike-Obasi agreed that they are united for a common enemy. “Guinea are not push-overs but we will jump over them to qualify”, Osaze who has been handed the license to shoot them down said. “The Guneans want to qualify and we want to qualify too. The end will justify the whole thing”, Obasi said.
