NATIONAL Pension Commission, PenCom, has said Trustfund that is managing the contributions to defunct Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, scheme, otherwise known as legacy funds, is awaiting transfer request from contributors to the Retirement Saving Accounts, RSAs.
Director-General of PenCom Mr. M. K.Ahmad at a one-day interactive session on the Pension Reform Act, PRA, 2004, jointly organized by PenCom and Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA, said the transfer of contributions under the NSITF scheme begun in July 2009.
Represented by Mr. Ehimeme Ohioma, Head, Investment Supervision Department Unit, Mr. Ahmad said, Mr. Ahmad told that “the participants that the transfer of contributions under the NSITF scheme begun in July 2009. To date only 62,406 out of about 1.3 million contributors in the NSITF scheme have forwarded their applications for transfer of the contributions.
To ensure easy transfer of the contributions, the Commission has reviewed the documentation requirements to allow members file their claims. The transfer forms are available from any of the 24 PFAs and the Commission website.
The PFAs, particularly Trustfund that is managing the funds belonging to the NSITF scheme, are also visiting the organizations whose workers contributed to the scheme to assist in the transfers. We urge the employers to please encourage their employees who participated in the NSITF scheme to contact their PFAs for the transfer of their contributions.”
