The attention of the management of Vanguard newspapers was on Sunday October 2, 2011,  drawn to a blasphemous comment against the Holy Prophet Mohammed SAW by one Desmond, a faceless hate monger, infidel and a hacker, in his reaction to Vanguard story about passing out of the members of the NYSC.

 Immediately, the online editor was queried to explain why such evil thoughts about Prophet Mohammed SAW slipped on to the website. His explanation was that Desmond, bypassed protocol to push his hate message online, to fulfil an unknown agenda. That is very regrettable.

 Vanguard as a responsible medium holds the religion of Islam and the prophets in great esteem. Vanguard regrets the avoidable slip and onslaught from a distraught Desmond. Vanguard, being a non partisan newspaper has always done justice to the faith of believers because it recognises the sensitivity of faithfuls to their religious beliefs.

 As a newspaper, Vanguard has promoted religious harmony, giving full expression to teachings of the two foremost religions in the land. For instance, Vanguard has maintained the  Facing The Kaaba column since 1984 and  build a mosque for the faithful on its premises which has been in use for decades.

 Vanguard abhors the kind of writing by Desmond and denounces his cant. He has since been blacklisted and the offensive message deleted from our server.

Vanguard regrets Desmond’s indiscretion and apologise to the Muslim umma that is held in very high  esteem. Vanguard will never disparage Islam and the Prophets.

May Almighty Allah forgive us our sins.
