Nigeria @ 51: Nigerians are irrepressible, says FCT Minister

Senator Bala Mohammed, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Monday, said the uniqueness of the Nigerian spirit is defined by the fact that it is irrepressible and indestructible. He foretold a brighter future for Nigeria despite the challenges.

In an independence anniversary message, released by Mr. Nosike Ogbuenyi, the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Senator Moham-med congratulated all law-abiding residents of the nation’s capital.

He described the diversity and resilience of Nigerians as rare attributes and the greatest source of strength for the country.

The Minister advised those who still cling to the illusion that Nigeria could be undermined or disunited on the basis of her social and geographical diversities to have a rethink because such varieties are ingredients of strength and colour rather than weakness.

He said: “It is a mere pipe dream for any person or group, whether Nigerians or foreigners, to assume that Nigeria would fail or be destroyed on account of our diversities. The reality is that Nigeria has come to stay and she is irrepressible and indestructible.”
