Ibadan : GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has said his administration cannot afford to fail the state with the kind of confidence people of the state reposed in them.
This message was passed to the people of the state by his Deputy, Chief Moses Alake who led other government officials to the Bodija Estate Baptist Church in Ibadan where a thanksgiving service was held to mark the country’s 51st independence anniversary.
The ruling government of the Action Congress of Nigeria said, “We cannot afford to fail the people of this state with the kind of confidence reposed in us and my boss, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and the rest of us in the cabinet are aware of it”.
Bearing it in mind that it is only when there is change that there development can take place, he appealed to all the residents in the state to assist the administration in prayers so that within the shortest possible time, desired changes would start to manifest.
He promised the people of the state that the present administration wouldnot shirk in its responsibility of leaving the state better that it met it.
Chief Adeyemo said it was regrettable that the country could not wean herself from all the identifiable problems associated with colonialism which the founding fathers like the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe and the Sardauna of Sokoto, Ahmadu Bello fought to bequeath freedom to the country 51 years ago.
As at now, he said, there was no litigation against the governorship election, bordering on election rigging. This, he stated, implied that people of the state actually voted for the party.
Pastor Olu Ola Olajide, while delivering his sermon said despite various challenges facing the country many reasons still abound to praise God for His covenant for the country.
All these challenges, the cleric maintained, were akin to those faced by Israel in the land of Egypt adding that very soon the would come out of them all.
