Estranged Eagles’ keeper, Vincent Enyeama is a long way off from regaining his number one position. He faces a battle to convince coach Samson Siasia he is worthy of a place in the team.
Enyeama lost Siasia’s vote of confidence prior to their departure to Antananarivo to play Madagascar in a crucial Nations Cup qualification match. Though Enyeama has tender a profuse apology, Siasia still feels the Lile of France reserve keep is not in the best frame of mind to man the post for the Eagles.
It was gathered that the rift between the two is far from being over and unless Enyeama puts up a sustained proportionate behavior he is set for a long spell on the bench for both club and country.
Enyeama, spearheaded a players revolt against the traveling plans of the Eagles to Madagascar, this was after he had previously discussed the issue with coach Siasia. It was gathered Siasia was taken aback with the development.
“And even when they landed in Madagascar, Enyeama showed disrespect to Siasia and other Nigeria Football Association members there.
“It was at this junction that Siasia decided Enyeama was not in best frame to keep the post. He felt that he could easily make mistake in that crucial encouter. Siasia had the intention of fielding him against Argentina, but Enyeama left the team in Madagascar,”an NFF disclosed.
He added that Siasia was trying hard to maintain team discipline in other to keep the team focused for the games ahead.
“It is not like he likes to stir up issues with the players. Rather he trying hard as a coach to keep the players in line.
“Take the issue of Osaze. After the game against Ethiopia he wanted to leave because his club was fighting relegation.
“And Siasia was like your club is not the only one fighting relegation. Osaze left and the next thing was that he was tweeting something and that was when Siasia decided to put him in the cooler. Any right thinking coach could have done the same.”
