Rising music star, Fatimehin Abiodun known in the music sphere as Bonzlight has been able to create a niche for himself as a recording and performing artist. His musical signature, according to him, is defined by his background and pretty much the influences around him during childhood.

As a Yoruba boy, from Ondo State the musical vibrations around him were all of Yoruba origin. Like the adolescents of his time, the music of the likes of King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Fela Anikuklapo Kuti and K1 De Ultimate could not be ignored and Bonzlight is proud to tell anyone who cares to listen how these musical legends moulded him into the blossoming star he is today.

“My music is a fusion of what I grew up listening to, K1 De Ultimate, Fela and Obey. My music is a blend of modern pop and Afrobeats sound. It’s a special blend created by me, and it’s different and it’s my unique sound,”:he said.

Bonzlight began learning the rudiments of music from the age of 17 but took a full plunge into the mainstream not quite long ago. He is dogged fight, passionately committed to honing his craft to perfection and has come a long way in making his voice heard.

“I started when I was 17, the kind of music being played at parties back then , talking about King Sunny Ader, Commander Ebenezer Obey, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Junior and Pretty , K1 De Ulmitate, influenced my musical growth. Those were the people I listened to while growing up and I always prayed to drop songs that would trend and have strong messages like the kind of songs they released. Back then,”he reiterated.

Bonzlight is a stand alone artist who has had to fight tenaciously for everything he has achieved both in life and musically. The only thing working in his favour is his tenacity and abject determination to succeed. When life was too tough in Nigeria he migrated to Dubai, United Arab Emirate where he is domiciled right now.

Early last year he stirred up the emotions of music lovers with a single titled “Update” featuring Eleniyan & Stunna.

Presently, he is all set to drop a four-track Extension Play (EP) titled “Smooth Operator” consisting of tracks like Smooth Operator, African Girl, Stronger and I Pray.
