IBADAN- The Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan North West Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr. Wasiu Olatubosun, has said the twin challenges of flooding and cholera outbreak posed a setback to the new administration particularly as they occurred at a time the government was settling down to begin its programmes.

However the council boss expressed satisfaction over the positive response by the residents of the council area to government’s campaigns to check the spread of Cholera epidemic in the state.

He said: “We are glad that one; we have seen that the present Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, government of Senator Ajimobi is one that can turn challenges to opportunities as the people of the State have now been successfully mobilized to be conscious of their environment and personal hygiene at all times.”

He gave an instance that in Ibadan North West Local Government, “people are now prepared to augment government’s drive to ensure a safe and secure environment for all and sundry.

I can inform that we have received more than 60 requests for the construction of public toilets from inhabitants of most vulnerable communities and this is against the situation in the past when those people would turn down government offer of such projects on account of dearth of land space.”

“I must admit that the last administration in the council purchased some electric power transformers but the effort did not go beyond award of contract for the purchase for obvious reasons. However, the present administration is working round the clock to obtain necessary approval from relevant authorities while we are also in partnership with the PHCN people to carry out the installation in some designated locations across the council”.
