OWERRI-Imo State Government said Monday that a brand new power plant, a fertilizer factory and massive construction of new roads will soon commence in the state.

The Special Assistant, SA, to Imo State Governor on Print Media, Mr. Ebere Uzoukwa, who spoke to Vanguard in Owerri, also explained that the development was sequel to the recent economic trip of Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha to Europe and Asia.

He said: “Governor Okorocha met in Tokyo, Japan, with a Korean Company, ICEPCO, specialized in building power plants and fertilizer factories. He also extracted an assurance from the company’s Managing Director, Mr. Jaeham Go, to construct a power plant in Imo state.”

Uzoukwa said Mr. Jaeham Go has since requested for information concerning gas deposit, the quality, as well as the master-plan of the state and the distance between the gas deposits and the city to enable immediate feasibility study of a fertilizer plant.

He said Governor Okorocha also met with the President, Association of African Economy and Development in Japan, Mr. Tetsiro Yano, who expressed willingness to visit Imo State and explore areas of possible investment in the state.

“In China, Governor Okorocha met with the President and management of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and sought partnership with the company in road construction, the building of a modern stadium, fertilizer factory, computer factory and others”, Uzoukwa said.
