Asaba- A senior staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has been rescued after four days in the kidnappers’ den, while N1.6 million collected by the kidnappers as part of N5 million demanded, was also recovered.

Speaking to Vanguard in Asaba, yesterday, the state Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Charles Muka, said the intensified efforts of officers in the command to checkmate kidnapping was paying off.

He said that the NNPC senior staff, one Mr. Godwin Ngbeken, was kidnapped on September 8 at 8pm in Warri. He said the anti-terrorism squad got information, swung into action and rescued the victim behind a company in Warri.

Muka said: “Two of the suspects were arrested. The kidnappers had demanded for N5 million ransom.

“We recovered one locally made pistol, nine cartridges, 11 different SIM cards and N1.6 million, part of the ransom collected by the suspects, from their hideout. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.”
