Eagles’ coach Samson Siasia has been urged to eschew parochialism and make the best of choices for the crucial Nations Cup qualifier against Guinea October 9 in Abuja.

Former Eagles defender and Kwara United coach, Kadiri Ikhana stated that though the Syli Stars of Guinea are beatable, but a wrong choice of players could spell doom for the Eagles. He was speaking against the background of Siasia preference of players who are not regulars for their clubs.

“He is the coach and he alone will select the players. But he should make the best choice for the game. I It is a match we cannot afford to toy with. Though I have a strong feeling we will do well and beat Guinea here.

“It will be a high tension match and we cannot afford to make any mistake. I expect Siasia to select the best of our players, if he desires to get a better result,” said the CAF Champions league winning coach.

For some reasons Siasia has had issues with players like Dickson Etuhu was a key member of the Eagles in the 2010 campaigns. He has also had an axe to grind with Osaze Peter Odemwingie, but they have since made up.

However, Siasia argued that he is focused on beating Guinea with a generous goal margin here.

“Our main focus for now is not beating the Syli Nationale of Guinea, but to beat them silly,” said Siasia, who will release his list of call-ups for the crucial qualifier next week.

“We want a convincing win, so we need to beat them by as many as three clear goals.

“We have to prepare well and find a way to win convincingly to earn the sole group ticket.”
