ENUGU-THE Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Chief Uche Anioke, has been honoured with Paul Harris Fellow, the highest award of the Rotary Club for donating one thousand dollars to victims of hunger in the Somali crisis.

Anioke was honoured during a leadership training camp meeting organised by the Rotary Club of Enugu for youth Rotarians from South East and South South zones at the Holy Rosary College, Enugu, weekend.

Dignitaries at the event raised concern over insecurity in the country, calling on the younger generation to shun vices that could endanger the unity of the nation.

Anioke and the state director of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) spoke on the need for the youths to embrace ideals of good leadership that would add to the current efforts to make Nigeria attain a desirable sustainable development.

While the council boss counselled the youth not to copy the current negative tendencies many young persons were associated with in parts of the country, he advocated inter-tribal marriage among them as a way of strenghtening the unity of the country.

On donation to Somali victims, Anioke explained that he was moved by the plight of those affected.

He thanked the Rotary Club for its philanthropy, saying it was heartwarming that the group which has been saddled with the task of catering for the less-privileged in the global society through sundry fund-raising efforts has also found time to organize leadership training for the youths.
