LAGOS- Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Adeyemi Ikuforiji, to relinquish his position, pending investigation into allegations levelled at him.
In a statement, state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Taofik Gani, called on relevant anti-graft agencies to probe affairs of the House since 2007.
The party said: “The recent arrest and interrogation of the Speaker, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is a good way of repositioning the commission.”
The party urged EFCC and other anti-graft agencies to dig into the affairs of the state Assembly since 2007.
It added: “The current revelation has indeed, confirmed the long stance of Lagos PDP that members of the Lagos legislature have been doing the bidding of the executive by considering only economic interests in enacting ill-considered, anti-people and unconstitutional laws such as LASAA, KAI, LCDA, Land use charge and LASTMA.”
It also stressed the need for the House to publish salaries of lawmakers.
