Nigeria international striker Ekigho Ehiosun made a goal-scoring debut for his new Turkish club Samsunspor as they won their opening league game 3-2 against Genclerbirligi.

Ehiosun hit target on 38 minutes on the first day of action in the Turkish top flight.

The ex-Warri Wolves star was booked on 62 minutes, though.

He is on a season-long loan deal at Samsunspor, who only won promotion back to the Turkish top league this season.

Another Nigeria star on song in Europe Saturday was Obinna Nsofor, who carried the form he showed against Madagascar last weekend by getting among the goals in his Russian club’s 4-2 win at home against Zenit St.Petersburg.

Zenit led 2-0 after half an hour before Nsofor pulled a goal back after 46 minutes to inspire a superb comeback for his club Lokomotiv Moscow, who went on to win 4-2.

It was a big win for Lokomotiv, who are fourth on the table with 39 points from 23 matches, against table toppers Zenit.

And in England, Peter Osaze Odemwingie returned West Brom to winning ways yesterday, when he scored the only goal of the game between the Baggies and Norwich City.

Osaze was making his first start of the season after an ankle injury and he had an eventful return.

He opened the scoring in the third minute after confusion in the Norwich defence but then went from hero to zero as his second half penalty was saved by young Norwich goalkeeper Declan Rudd.

West Brom started the season with three consecutive defeats to Manchester United, Chelsea and Stoke City. But against Norwich it was a must win or burst for the coach Roy Hodgson.

Many Baggies fans before the game expected the partnership of Osaze and Shane Long to yield result .And it did not take long for them to have an impact.
