AWKA – THE Anambra State leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday reacted to the alleged expulsion of five members of the state executive by the South East zone of the party, saying the purported sack was a charade.
The five officials, Prince Ken Emeakayi, Mr. Chudi Chidebe, Mr. Chidi Okasia, Mr. Geoffrey Umeanuka and Okey Nwizugbe, were allegedly expelled after a zonal meeting in Enugu.
But at a news conference in Awka, the state Vice Chairman in charge of Anambra Central, Sir Amechi Onowu, who was reprimanded by the zone and spared the expulsion, said the zonal working committee had no legal authority to expel them.
He said Prince Ken Emeakayi remains the state chairman of the party and other members are still holding their offices. He advised the people of the state to ignore whatever statement that emanated from the zonal office of the party.
He said: “From the PDP constitution, for anybody to be expelled, the process has to start from his ward. In this case, we were invited individually to answer questions on the removal of the zonal chairman, Chief Olisa Metuh.
