You ‘re free to rate Ekiti, says Fayemi

ADO-EKITI—Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has said that his administration is open to any form of rating or assessment by any group or organisation

Fayemi, however, warned that facts and figures obtained in the state should not be distorted

Speaking in his office in Ado Ekiti yesterday during an inaugural meeting with a group of assessors pioneered by the office of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum in Abuja ,Fayemi said he will continue to engage the services of credible Nigerians, regardless of political and ethnic affiliation in the policies of his administration .

He said, the State Government is in total support of the programme because it will engender rapid development of the State.

Fayemi described the steps taken by the governors’ body as a duty and not a favour, adding that the Southwest States which are under the control of the Action Congress of Nigeria had pioneered a regional peer review scheme to engender exchange of ideas to fast-tracking development in the area.

Fayemi explained that the State still remain as the interim secretariat for the Regional Integration in the six states of the Southwest Region.

He boasted that programme of assessment of the performances of the 36 states of the federation will be successful because of the apolitical nature of the of the NGF in matter that bothers of the well-being and holistic transformation on the economy of the nation.

The group’s Director General, Mr. Bayo Okauru said, Anambra and Edo States were short-listed for the pilot scheme before attention was shifted to Ekiti for the commencement of the programme.

Okauru revealed that the assessment scheme was conceived by the NGF as an instrument to assist the States in accelerating the pace of their development policies, through periodic reviews of progress in the implementation of their plans and programmes.

The DG further declared that the developmental drive of the States Chief Executives would be made easy under the scheme through sharing of experiences among States and reinforcement of commendable and innovative practices unveiled in the process.

In his own presentation, resource person, Prof Alex Gboyega said, about 253 indicators had been listed by the body in assessing the effectiveness of each state of the Federation in all sectors.
