Playing against Messi not an easy job – Obasi

Chinedu Ogbuke- Obasi felt pained that the Eagles were beaten 3-1 by Argentina in Tuesday’s international friendly in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Ogbuke scored Nigeria’s consolation goal. But to him that was not enough to sooth the pain of losing to Argentina again.

Obasi who was speaking in Dhaka stated that he has lost three games to Argentina with Lionel Messi in the thick of things.

“First was the 2005 FIFA Under-20 world cup. That was a very emotional match for me. Because I scored in that match, yet ended up on the losing side. We had to concede to the two penalties from Messi. It still hurts as we came so close to winning the trophy.”

He also recalled the 1-0 loss to Argetnina in the final of the Beijing 2008 Olympics, where Messi again set up Angel Di Maria to score the only goal of that match.

Ogbuke-Obasi refused to count the 4-1 hiding Nigeria handed Argentina last June in Abuja. “I was not in that match so it does not count for me.”

He added that the Eagles were hoping for a good result to prove that their victory in Abuja was no fluke. However, he praised the genius of Barcelona star Messi.
