Leading global mobile advertising network, InMobi has released its second quarter mobile insights report for Africa which shows that the Nigerian on-line advertising market has grown by 60% over the past quarter making the country the fastest grower on the continent with 2.3 billion mobile advertising Impressions in the second quarter Q2.
While the data indicates that advances in phones continue to dominate the African mobile advertisement market with 84% share, smartphones register faster growth than advanced phone impressions.
Isis Nyong’o, Vice President and Managing Director InMobi Africa confirmed that “in Nigeria, we are seeing the adoption of smartphones starting to pick up significantly. Mobile access has given consumers a convenient, affordable way to access digital content wherever they are, which has brought about this enormous advertiser opportunity.”
According to a survey published in the latest edition of Mediafacts 2010, an annual publication of MediaReach OMD, a media independent agency in Nigeria, a total of N97.549 billion was invested in outdoor advertising.
