WARRI—THE Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Warri, Delta State, has urged members of the public not to engage in panic-buying, whenever there was sign of scarcity of petroleum products in the state.

Chairman of the association, Chief Akopvire Edafevwotu, who gave the advice while briefing newsmen weekend, said that rumours of diversion of petroleum products by members were untrue.

He said: “As business people, I charge members to do their business within the ambient of the law. I urged the public against panic buying of products whenever there is any little sign of scarcity as we will continue to ensure that products get to the public all times.”

“I am not aware of product diversion anywhere in our units. We don’t divert product, sometimes, we do supply diesel to companies after getting necessary approval, which is not diversion. Diesel is regulated, you can buy anywhere and supply it to wherever you want,” he said.

He commended the national leaders of the association for reconciling their differences, which almost tore the organisation apart and advised members against going to court to settle issues.
