The Gospel Baptist Conference of Nigeria, youth wing in Lagos has organised a conference in a continued effort to sensitize Nigerians on the need to participate fully and choose a credible leader ahead of the Nigeria 2023 general elections.

The youths, being members of a branch of the GBC in Nigeria and Overseas held the conference at the FESTAC Church on Saturday September 24, as they played host to the Vigour Youths Network, VYN, a civil society organisation promoting democracy in Nigeria. 

“We are organising this forum today as part of our own contribution to enlighten our members and all the youths in the entire federation to brace up and exercise their civic roles during the election. This conference also affords the audience to be aware of what is at stake in the 2023 elections,” says Olumuyiwa Onatoyinbo, the youth leader.

Prince Justice Ighite, President of the VYN, in his remark urged the youths to take the elections seriously as its outcome would affect the fortunes of the country as well as the fortunes of individual citizens.

He said that everyone has a role to play in the effort to make our democracy serve us better and that our responsibility is to participate in the elections and vote for credible candidates.

He assured the youths that the electoral system was improving and that people should not think that their votes would not count, while urging the youths to refrain from violence but to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner throughout the electioneering period.
