UGHELLI-THE lingering legal battle over the election of Mr. Eme Mukoro as member representing Ughelli South constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly took another dimension, yesterday, as Mr. Mavis Ojigho, his opponent in the poll, petitioned the Inspector General of Police, alleging that (Mukoro) of forged the certificate of return in his possession.
Ojigho in the petition by his counsel, claimed that he contested and won the said election to represent the constituency, adding that he was declared winner.
He said the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC published and returned him as duly elected to represent Ughelli South Local Government Area in the Delta State House of Assembly.
According to him, though he was declared winner, INEC printed Certificate of Return in his name but did not release the said certificate to him because of the order of the Federal High Court, Asaba.
He claimed that while the Certificate of Return was still with INEC headquarters, Abuja, Mr Mukoro forged one certificate of Return and presented same to the Court of Appeal, Benin and that on seeing the forged Certificate of Return, he wrote INEC, Abuja to find out whether the said Certificate emanated from it.
