Technoglass Industries Limited has announced an advancement in its production technique with the launch of a new glass production unit called Insulated Glazing Unit.

According to a statement by the company, signed by Mr. Ezenwa Opara, the advancement is in line with the drive towards encouraging local participation in economic development and improvement in the value of made-in-Nigeria products.

Speaking on the development, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. John Aluya said that with the introduction of the unit, also called IG unit, Nigerian builders do not need to travel to Europe or Asia for imported insulated glass.

According to Aluya, who is also the Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigerian, MAN, Apapa Branch, with the technological advancement of the company in the manufacturing techniques of glass for use in the building industry, TechnoGlass can compete favourably with any foreign glass company in terms of volume and quality.

He said that the IG Unit are manufactured with glass panes separated with ‘Spacer bar’ and can be in range of thickness from 3mm to 10mm or more in special application.

Opara further noted that the new unit is specifically produced and designed to control heat radiation and noise mitigation.

He further stated that double glazed or insulated glass can also be achieved with laminated or tempered glass and thus offers privacy, beauty and safety with a flick of a switch.

Opara said, “It is no longer the huge energy consuming product it used to be. Rather with a new generation product like double glazed safety glass in Nigeria, builders can now make a wide range of choice to conserve energy, block Utra Violet rays, minimise, gain or radiate heat.”
