By Jimitota Onoyume & Chancel Sunday
Leadership of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom Interest and Defensive Forum, OIDF, has condemned the actions of the executive chairmen of Warri South-West and Udu Local Government Areas, Delta State, Hon. Taiye Tuoyo and Hon. Jite Brown, respectively, over the alleged demolition of buildings belonging to Ogbe-Ijoh community in the name of boundary demarcation.
OIDF, in a statement issued yesterday, signed by its Ground General Commander, Powode E. Ikoro, national chairman, Okosu Smart and action chairman, Commander Francis Oromoni, called on Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa and his delegation to rely on the already established boundary demarcation known by law.
The statement reads in part: “The attention of OIDF has been drawned to a purported Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh Boundary Committee led by Udu and WSW LGA chairmen, Hon. Jite Brown and Hon. Taiye Tuoyo, respectively, claiming to be agents of Delta State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, destroying buildings belonging to Ogbe-Ijoh people in the name of boundary adjustment without the consent of the people.
“OIDF and others led thousands of Ogbe-Ijoh youths to verify the purported boundary areas but to our own greatest surprise, three of Ogbe-Ijoh buildings were destroyed without the consent of the owners and people of Ogbe-Ijoh.
“We therefore, call on Gov Okowa, Chairmen of Udu and WSW LGAs to desist from their evil agenda against the people of Ogbe-Ijoh and rebuild the destroyed houses within seven days.
“We also advise Gov. Okowa and his loyalists to rely on the already established boundary demarcation known to law between Udu LGA and WSW LGA, and not to create a new boundary”.
However, contacted, the executive chairman, Warri South West LGA, Mr Tuoyo, said: “Well, I can’t speak on it now because I have already reported the issue to higher authority”.
