Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege , has been urged to wade in to ensure even and fair distribution of the pipeline surveillance contract job for urhobo area.
Ex agitator and president Urhobo Youth Council, Abuja chapter, General Peter Aghogho made the appeal, saying the Senator should see that urhobo stakeholders were all carried along in the job.
He further appealed to the Senator to call a son of Urhobo and ex militant leader, Eshanekpe Israel aka Akpodoro to be actively involved in the distribution of the urhobo slot, stressing that Akpodoro was among those who tirelessly worked with some other key stakeholders and the former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai to make Avengers ( a militant group) drop their threat to resume hostilities in the Niger Delta region.
“Eshanekpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro (Ex Militant leader) and Chief Michael Johnny played vital roles with Lieutenant Gen. Tukur Buratai when he was Chief of Army Staff to put an end to the Avengers issue.
“The Urhobo Youths should not be sidelined in anyway. The government has again looked into the yearnings of the Youths here in our region and it will be only fair if everyone is carried along.
“I want to use this opportunity to urge Distinguished Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege to call a meeting where Eshanekpe aka Akpodoro, the Mayor of Urhobo land will be invited to discuss the way forward in the distribution of the Slots Allocated to Urhobo nation.
” With the service Ex- Militant leader Eshanekpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro has rendered in Urhobo land, it is only fair that he should be carried along. If this fails to happen, we will have no option than to take our destiny in our hands by walking into the street to protest”.
