At least 100 less privileged persons and orphans in the Benue South senatorial district have received cash donations and motorcycles to the tune of over N75million from the former deputy governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and founder of the Benue State All Political Party Members Alliance, BENSAPPMA, Alhaji Usman Abubakar to support their livelihoods.

Performing the distribution of the cash and 20 motorbikes to the beneficiaries at his Otukpo residence in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue state, Alhaji Abubakar said it was his litte way of helping the people cushion the harsh effect of the present economic realities.

Alhaji Abubakar who is also the founder of Young Alhaji foundation, YAF, said the “20 motobike which is being given to our unemployed youths in Benue South will enable them support themselves rather than being idle.

“Generally the gesture is intended to cushion the suffering of my people in the face of the harsh economic realities and also helps them improve their livelihoods.”

He lamented that “societal values have been eroded due to the persistent socio-economic challenges being experienced by the people which in my conviction can only be redressed by constantly providing succour for the people, especially the less privileged masses who have nothing to live on.”         

According to Alhaji Abubakar “government and policy makers are constrained due to the current trend of socio-political events occasioned by lack of vision and capacity to entrench a new and rewarding ideology by the political elites.”

He urged the well to do within Benue South District and beyond to embibe the culture of giving as it was the only way to reduce societal vices and youth restiveness.                                          

Beneficiaries of the gesture included members of groups and associations and a number of individuals in dire need of support and assistance.
