Antennah, Moonstar reach Gulder 5-A-side national finals

Antennah FC, Ijebu Igbo have emerged the Gulder 5-A-side Football champions from the Western Region of the country after thrashing Moonstar FC of Ijebu Ode by 5-2 in the final game played at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium Ijebu Ode. Both teams have qualified for the national finals holding in Lagos.

Teams from neighboring cities and towns, gathered for three days in the Ijebu –Ode town known for pomp and pageantry when it comes to social shindigs, trading tackles in order to book their space in the fortune changing football competition.

At the end of the third day, it was Antennah FC and Moonstar FC that became the last two teams standing. They were victorious against the over 200 teams that registered in that region for the 2011 Ultimate Gulder 5-A-side Football competition.

The two teams that got to the regional finals did not disappoint their respective fans at the final encounter to determine the overall winner from the region. Both sides proved their mettle to the admiration of their fans.

Moonstar FC which scored the first goal in the 5th minute through Michael Adesin, eventually caved in to the football dexterity and skillful display by Antennah FC which eventually roasted Moonstar by 5 – 2.

Speaking to after the match, Ismail Obisanya, the highest goal scorer of the entire tournament with 8 goals, and striker of the Antennah FC said, “I am thrilled with the win and all the credit go to my entire team. We all played as a unit towards one goal of becoming the Gulder 5 A-side regional champion”.
