MAKURDI—The United States Government has committed about N75 billion (about $500 million) in the fight against the deadly HIV/AIDS in the country.

This information came just as Governor Gabriel Suswan  lamented Benue State’s position as one of the most HIV/AIDS infested state in the country.

Suswam declared that the high rate of the virus in the state has become a source of ‘’shame’’ for him vowing to ensure that the state records a zero prevalence rate in the coming years.

The Governor, however, pleaded with the people of the state to shun the stigma and avail themselves for treatment adding, “we must make good use of these facilities to better our health conditions, stigma must not be a hindrance in the situation we have found ourselves”.
