OWERRI—Imo State Police Command has rescued a six-year-old boy (names withheld), abducted from Lagos and sold to a woman identified as Rita Anujuo from Emeabiam Azara Obiato, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
The command also stormed the hideout of some robbers who terrorised Njaba and its environs and recovered 13 AK 47 rifles and more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition.
At a briefing, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Linus Nwaiwu, alleged that the woman made a part payment of N200,000 of the N.5 million demanded by the abductors.
He said: “The buyer has been arrested and she confessed to have bought the victim for N.5m. Frantic efforts are on to arrest Simon Nwaogwugwu and Ugonna Okoro, who fled on sighting police team.”
