Anambra govt honours 75 citizens

AWKA – SEVENTY-FIVE indigenes of Anambra State who have accomplished themselves in various fields of life are to be honoured by the government as parts of events to mark the 20th anniversary of the state.

At a briefing, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Chief Maja Umeh, who spoke on the programme of events for the celebration at Government House, Awka, however, did not name the awardees.

Umeh said the award would be presented on Friday, August 26, after a summit tagged, “Anambra at Twenty”, with the theme, “A call for collective Action.”

He said the honour would be  continuous to accommodate those who have distinguished themselves, adding that the 75 persons to be honoured were the first batch of the awardees.

The celebration would be rounded off with an investor’s breakfast forum on Saturday, August 27, with Governor Peter Obi as Chief Host and Igwe Alfred Achebe (Agbogidi) Obi of Onitsha as the Royal Father of the day.
