Delta State governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan plays good tennis with his right hand and faily good soccer with his left leg. Does this make him a complete sportsman?

Many who followed him from his days as a tennis player to now that he plays social tennis and millions who attest to his support for sports development may be in a better position to answer this but come Friday at the newly constructed Sapele Stadium Dr. Uduaghan will display just a little bit of his skill in football.

The occasion will be the commissioning of the stadium. Ex internationals of Delta origin will play against ex internationals from the rest of the country to mark the opening of the stadium that will add to the number of facilities that make Delta the number one state in sports development. They have more than six stadiums.

In the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship, Dr. Uduahgna will play for Delta in the first half but will switch to the rest of Nigeria in the second half. The match comes up at 3pm, Friday

Mr. Pinnick who also doubles as the Delta FA Chairman further confirmed that all logistics have been put in place for a memorable novelty match tagged “Delta at 20”.

Leading the pack of ex-internationals from Delta State is Austin Jay-Jay Okocha who will serve as Captain for the match to be accompanied by Edema Fuludu, Austin Popo, Nduka Ugbade, Emma Okocha, Victor Ikpeba, Mobosa Brodericks, Humphrey Jebba, Davidson Owumi, Wilson Oruma, Makpor Dibofun Franklin Howard, Mike Obiku, Prince Afejuku, Alex Amudo, Atare Azigbo and Kenneth Nwaomucha.

In the team of ex-internationals from the rest of Nigeria, it would be led by Henry Nwosu as Captain with arsenals in the mould of Peter Rufai, Aloy Agu, Samson Siasia, Daniel Amokachi (The Bull), Friday Ekpo, Henry Nwosu, Monday Eguavoen, Austin Eguavoen, Friday Elaihor, Tarila Okorowanta, Ike Shorunmu, Ajibade Babalade, Emeka Ezeugo, Uche Okechukwu, Bazuaye Brodericks, Samson Ozogula, Oliha Thompson, David Rashigba, Bright Omokaro and Victor Igbinoba.

Coaches Lawrence Akpokona and Shuaibu Amodu will take respective charge of the two teams.

Our usually impeccable news sources revealed that these veritable assemblages of ex-internationals is

generating lots of excitement in football circles within and outside Sapele, a city renowned for her

prowess in timber merchandise along the famous Ethiope River.

It is also viewed as a home-coming to some of the ex-internationals like Victor Ikpeba who grew up as a child in Sapele. The town also prides itself as producing one of the greatest FIFA-badged referees in the old Bendel State, Mr. Aghante, (Black Arrow of blessed memory).

All roads will lead to the Sapele Stadium Friday 26th August, 2011 by 3 pm as the who-is-who in the

sporting world throng the venue of the novelty match .
