ACTION Congress of Nigeria, ACN, candidate for the Ika Federal Constituency in the April elections, Dr. Isioma Okobah, has tasked the National Assembly on legislation that would devolve powers and funds to states and local governments, and to focus on legislation that will strengthen and deepen democracy in the country.

Okobah said it would enable state and local governments embark on programmes that would have direct positive bearing on the grassroots.

She called for aggressive approach against corruption, and asked for greater autonomy and taxation powers in favour of state governments to enable them cope with their huge wage bills and meet the peoples’ need for dividends of democracy.
