Abuja: Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the President of the African Business Roundtable and PDP chairmanship aspirant, says restoring the philosophy of its founding fathers will be his main priority as chairman.

Tukur said this on Saturday when members of Royal Life Saving Society of Nigeria, an Abuja-based care group, paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Abuja.

He said that the party had derailed from the all inclusive and strong democratic structures on which it was originally founded.

He decried the crises that had engulfed the party, saying that the PDP was desirous of a leadership that was experienced enough to address some of the problems.

The aspirant said: “It is now public knowledge that our party is in need of purposeful leadership to take it out of its current troubles.

“I must admit that the party that we have today has derailed from what those of us that started it wanted it to be like.

“I will build a PDP that is people-centred, all inclusive and much stronger in posture.”

He said that a viable mechanism to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party would be created when he emerged as chairman.

Tukur said he would use his connections  and experience in the private sector to push for stronger policies that would drive the economy toward prosperity.

On the issue of the job creation, Tukur said the PDP under his leadership would push for a more effective policy on human capital development.

He told the group and other progressive groups in the country to support a leadership that is transformational and goal oriented.

Earlier, Dr Victoria Bellu, head of the group, said that their visit was to identify with the aspiration of Tukur to become the chairman of the ruling party.

She said that they were endorsing him for the PDP top post because  his belief conformed with that of the group. (NAN)
