The FIFA U-20 final  takes place in the wee hours of tomorrow morning (2 am) between a colonial master, Portugal and one of her colonies, Brazil, a game Brazil’s coach, Ney Franco says will surely have a Portuguese flavour.

Brazil are four time winners of the competition, second only to Argentina who have cuddled the trophy on six occasions while Portugal are two time champions, one of those being against Nigeria in 1989 in Saudi Arabia when the Tunde Disu-tutored squad lost 0-2.

Franco sees a tough duel against Portugal who have not conceded a single goal so far in the competition but he told fifa.com that his team have quality attackers who can take on the water-tight Portuguese defence.

“The final will have a Portuguese flavour to it. We know Portugal are very strong defensively, with Mika yet to concede a goal here. On the other hand, we have some real quality forwards, which all makes for an appealing clash of styles. We’ve been studying our opponents carefully but I know this will be a tough match, just like the Mexico and Spain fixtures,”Franco said.

His Portuguese counterpart, Ilidio Vale, also speaking to fifa.com said his boys,  after edging out European champions, France in the semi final, are ready to write their names in history 20 years after their compatriots won the cup on home soil.

“Now my players want to write their own history, and it’s a good coincidence that it happens 20 years after our last title. Regardless of who are our opponents in the final, it will be a great game, a fiesta of football,” he assured.
