PRESIDENT of the National Union of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Employees, NUFBTE, Comrade Lateef Idowu Oyelekan, has been given 2010 distinguished worker of year award.

The award was bestowed on him by RayPower FM, the Radio arm of Daar Communications, for his leadership qualities and exemplary leadership.

An employee of Nigeria Bottling Company, NBC, Comrade Oyelekan has proven to be leader of men, a team player and manager of resources since elected President of the umbrella body for junior workers in the Food and Beverage sector of the economy three years ago.

In NBC, his leadership qualities were noticed early and the workers quickly drafted to lead from the branch to the National level where he did not only transformed the union and laid solid foundation for greater height, he tremendously impacted positively on the workers.

Before his election as the national President of the union in Lafia, Nassarawa, in 2007, he was a deputy President of NUFBTE.

Under his leadership, the union has ventured into business and property developments to boost its revenue base.
