Kaduna electricity coy groans under N9.58bn debt

BY LUKA BINNIYAT

KADUNA-The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KEDC, yesterday said it was been weighed down by inability of its customers to pay a debt of N9.58 billion owed the company.

The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Alhaji Is’haq Usman who revealed this at a briefing  said vandals had destroyed the company’s equipment worth about N120 million.

Usman however said the company had been able to make some significant strides in the past one year.

“Inspite of the laudable efforts of this management to improve revenue drive and services, we are still recording an outstanding debt of about N9.58 billion by our customers and this is not good enough for the survival of our company in the face of all the projects.
