LAGOS—There was commotion, today, at Berger and Ojota areas of Lagos, following a shoot-out between policemen and members of separate robbery gangs.

At Ojota, the sporadic gun-shot was between the Police and a 15-man robbery gang who wore Army camouflage. Their attempt to operate at two new generation banks in the area was foiled.

The  robbers stormed the bank premises at about 1.30 p.m. in two operational vehicles, an unmarked Toyota Camry and Pathfinder jeep.
But their move was suspected by policemen attached to the banks, who called for re-reinforcement from Area ‘H’ Command.

At about the same time, a team of policemen and a fleeing robbery gang were engaged in a shoot-out. The fleeing robbers, it was gathered, also stormed a bank in Ogun State, where they met a police patrol team, which engaged them in a gun duel in which several persons sustained injuries.

Among them were five persons, said to have been hit by stray bullets. But none according to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Samuel Jinadu lost his life.
