NUPENG chief seeks review of members’ pay

BY SIMON EBEGBULEM

BENIN CITY- National Chairman of the Independent Marketers Branch, IMB, of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers, NUPENG, Comrade Thompson Ogbodo has stressed the need to review the salary of workers of the union so that it will be commensurate with their services.

Ogbodo who spoke in Benin City yesterday, lamented that it was over two decades that the union was created, members do not have a realistic wage structure not to talk of living wage, adding that the development had created an avenue for fraud in the system.

He said an earlier MOU signed between IMB and the management of NUPENG put the salary of the least paid worker under the IMB at a meagre N3000 per month while the sum of N7,500 was approved as the salary of an Assistant Representative and N8,000 approved for Senior Representative.
