Educationists have reiterated that sound education is still the best legacy any parent can give to their children as students continue to face with stiff challenges of getting admission into institution of higher learning.

Chief Ajibola Olagbaye made this clearer when he stated that education is unarguably the bedrock of civilization and developments but the challenges of providing sound education for our children, in recent times, remained undaunted saying that children graduating from colleges in Nigeria continue to have uphill tasks in gaining admission into Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

Olagbaye, in his speech during the fourteen Ronik Comprehensive School graduation urged parents to ensure that their children and wards are adequately prepared to face the tasks ahead adding: this can be done by encouraging and supporting them to take up extra curricular activities and vocational training such as computer appreciation, IT training, bi-Lingual studies (French, Arabic, Chinese and German), dress and shoe making, barbing and hair dressing, printing and entrepreneurship.

According to him, all these could be good ways in adding value to formal education of our children because the reality of the Nigerian economy calls for multidimensional approaches.

Also speaking, the Principal, Ronik Comprehensive School, Mrs Mogbonjubola Ejerinde said that the school recorded 100% credit pass as all the students had English and Mathematics plus five other subjects at credit and above credit level. She made this remark while delivering a valedictory speech held on Friday at Ejigbo, Lagos.

She noted that success is a product of sound thinking and hard work as persistence will always weary the toughest opposition. “It is important to constantly renew yourself and always carry out a self check and ensure that you shed any habit that will not lead you to your desired future.” she said.

Recapitulating the academic performance of the school, Ejirinde pointed out that during the session, Ronik Comprehensive School students joined other students in Abuja to deliberate on world class issues during the annual Nigeria International Secondary School Model United Nations conference (NISSMUN).

Last year’s topic where the school won an award accompanied by a projector during the last conference they spoke on the topic “Millennium Development Goal: Reminding our leaders of the 2015 Deadline.”

According to the Principal, there were various sports activities in which the school participated and performed very well adding: the 8th edition of Ronik Comprehensive School’s Inter House Sports competition took place within the session and the occasion provided the opportunity to spot new talents as new records were broken.

To Ejirinde, the maiden edition of the school’s Career Day which took place recently helped students to be acquainted with various career choices reiterating that they were enlightened by different resource persons who shed light on’ careers which are hither to unknown! to students but are highly profitable and rewarding as they helped students to look beyond their noses by “Breaking the Barrier of Career.

Her words: “Ronik Comprehensive School students in the final class had an opportunity of making their voices heard when they participated in an essay competition organized by Edumark Consult where Chinua Nwosu’s essay, a student of Ronik was amongst the best essays received in the country.

He received a certificate which was signed by a former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd) as well as Chief Emeka Anyaoku, a one time Commonwealth Secretary General.
