ABUJA— After its prolonged probe of allegations of corruption against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu and the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Isa Ayo Salami, Vanguard, yesterday, gathered that the National Judicial Council, NJC, has concluded plans to make its final verdict on the issue known to the public today.

The decision, according to sources, was reached by the Justice Dahiru Musdapher-led council, yesterday, after it received the report of the three-man panel of justices it had constituted with a view to arriving at a commensurate sanction for any of the parties found to have contravened his judicial oath of office.

Meanwhile, insinuations were rife yesterday that the fresh panel, which was presided by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, might have recommended an immediate resignation of the PCA.

Other members of that panel were the Chief Judges of Anambra and Bayelsa states, Justices Peter Umeadi and R. Kate Abiri, respectively.

It will be recalled that the protem panel which was presided by a former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Abdullahi Umaru had at the end of its closed door hearing sessions that lasted for five months, allegedly indicted the PCA of perjury, sequel to averments he made through an affidavit he deposed to before a Federal High Court, which the panel said contained unfounded allegations against the CJN.
